Facilities & Rooms
Our branch at Bridgeton has 3 main rooms for the following age groups:
0-2 department caters for 12 children and currently has 4 staff members.
2-3 room caters for 10 children and has 2 staff members.
3-5 room caters for 21 children and has 3 staff members.
We have 2 garden areas to the side of the nursery that we are able to use daily which helps children’s physical development. There is a separate garden area for the 0-2 years children and the 2-5 years children. We also have a growing garden to the front of the nursery where we challenge the children to grow herbs, fruits and vegetables. We have managed to grow potatoes, peppers, strawberries and various plants and herbs.
Through Citizenship we visit our local library, Bridgeton Library at Bridgeton Cross. We also go on excursions to the Healthy Living Centre, where we can use the running track and we also visit our local care home, We also use our two local parks, Glasgow Green and Tollcross, to learn about wildlife, nature and to enhance our own physical health and well-being.
Our nursery cook prepares all our delicious meals from scratch. There is no salt or sugar added to any meals or snacks made and our menus are designed to provide a healthy, balanced diet. Fruit is available at every eating opportunity and the choices of drinks are water or milk. We take into consideration children’s dietary requirements and all meals are in line with our Healthy Living Policy and National Guidelines. We also follow the new Guidelines “Setting the Table”.
Tooth brushing is a very important part of the day for the children so we will incorporate this into your child’s day at nursery depending on if they attend part time or full time. All materials will be provided for this so you needn’t worry. Each child will also receive a new toothbrush and toothpaste set from the Child smile team at least twice per year. If you don’t have a registered dentist for your child, don’t worry as our Child smile team are also here to help with that too.
